Meet Gypsy - one of the sweetest girls you could hope to meet. This girl is a total sweetheart and she deserves the very best of homes. She has come into care through no fault of her own - her owner simply couldn't take her into a unit complex. She has been nothing but an absolute perfect girl while in care - no issues with anyone or anything. She's probably smaller than you'd imagine from looking at her pics - she is about the height of a kelpie, but the build of a rotty. She has impeccable manners and doesn't bark unnecessarily, jump up on you or dog / chew etc. She really has an A+ person
Gypsy is super smart and has a wonderful nature and an eagerness to please. She does have some medical considerations for her adoptive family - Gypsy has hip dysplasia and as a result will need to have this managed in her life. Hip dysplasia is exceptionally common in medium to large breed dogs and isn't something to fear. Sure, Gypsy won't be an athlete, but lets be honest - are you looking for a running jumping agility companion - probably not!
For Gypsy, this means keeping her appropriately active (walks are great, running and jumping probably will cause some discomfort). Keeping her diet in check is important - just like humans, being lean really helps ease pressure on joints. She is currently undergoing a month of weekly long lasting pain relief injections which these 4 initial doses will be covered by ARQ at our vet even if she's adopted during this process. These injections will need to be spaced out accordingly - likely every 1-3 months ongoing. They're very affordable at the vet, but something to consider. There are also many supplements you can add as well, such as osteoease chews. At this stage, surgery isn't something that is required or recommended by our vet, but rather good management will give her a very lovely quality of life as someones treasured family member.
So - Gypsy would love a home where she is part of the family, not just a dog in the backyard. She would love to accompany you on weekend adventures, walks or even camping with the family. And then of course, sleeping on a bed inside, or maybe even your bed! She is fine with other dogs and kids but would equally be just as happy on her own. Preference will be given to someone who has the time and is committed to giving her a wonderful life - including her medical needs.
Adoption fee includes: Desexing, up to date vaccinations, microchipped, wormed, flea and heart worm treated, vet checked and one month FREE pet insurance. A discount of vaccinations and also a discount on grooming. Our dogs also go out on a 14 day settling in period to ensure a perfect fit.
If interested in meeting at the foster home, please fill in an adoption application at https://www.animalrescueqld.net/adoption-application and we will be in contact.
Please note, we do not offer distance adoptions at this stage - so if you can't get to SEQ with the whole family to meet at the foster home (parents, kids and other dogs if applicable), please take a look at the dogs available in your local area.
